Fascinating Video – Tim Duncan: Game Winner vs. Hornets (2012, 28 points)
www.basketball-reference.com January 23rd, 2012 Tim Duncan pours in a season high (at the moment) 28 points including a game winning hook shot to lead the San Antonio Spurs over the New Orleans Hornets. Tony Parker added 20 points and a career high 17 assists to complement the offense. Tim once again reverted to his old ways hitting hook shots and shots off the glass like it was 2003 again. Tim is not done yet…that’s what this game tells me.

So many storylines in this one. Lakers going for 3 peat, on the road tied 1-1 vs the San Antoino Spurs and the 2002 league MVP Tim Duncan. There was the hype of Kobe vs Bowen, an injured Shaq, the return of David Robinson to the Spurs lineup. Doubt was beginning to reign down on the 2 time defending champs. It didn’t help that the 2002 playoff start was not as smooth for the Lakers as their 2001 playoff run, in which they went 15-1 winning the title but then again…that feat hasn’t been matched before them or since. Kobe and the Lakers would start off slow, thanks in part to the Spurs D but in the 2nd half Kobe heated up ending up with 31,6 and 6 on 15 -31 FG in a huge road win with the Lakers going up 2-1 in the series.
